This year we travelled to the Virginia Highlands for our backpacking focused HAT (high adventure trip) Each Scout had to complete three weekend backpacking trips averaging 15 miles. Those trips along with two day hikes of 11 miles prepared each Scout to take on this year’s HAT.
We backpacked from Fox Creek trailhead to Damascus, VA which landed us at a little over 40 miles of backpacking and topped the trip off with a 17 mile cycling adventure.
The weather was great and the creeks were cold. What a fantastic trip!!
