This Camporee was Troop 3’s first one in a while. We had a ton of fun and got to solve a mystery. Every Camporee has a theme. This one was a detective theme. We were trying to find the people/person(it was people) who stole the Spirit Stick(The Spirit Stick is a award given at every camporee to the troop who showed the scout law, oath, and spirit the best.). This was a 3 day, 2 night trip. The first day we got there at about 6:30. Then we ate some snacks. After that we headed to the opening ceremony. There we went over what was going to happen that weekend. But, when they were explaining the how to win the Spirit Stick, a thief ran and grabbed it. We also learned our dutch oven supply’s were stolen(we were going to make a dutch oven meal). We learned we were going to be the ones to have to catch them! After that we went to sleep.
The next day we did stations to learn how to do things like fingerprinting, foot track casting, and interviewing witnesses. Then we started interviewing witnesses. While we were interviewing witnesses we found the spirit Stick and the Dutch Oven supplies. Then we looked at fingerprints and shoe print cast to find the people who did it. After that we made our Dutch Oven meal. Then we headed to a big group camp fire. There we did some skits and found who committed the crime. After that it was time to reveal who got the Spirit Stick … IT WAS US!!! After that we ate the Dutch Oven meals and went to bed.
On the last day we woke up played some “Boom Goes The Dynamite”. Then we left. Over all we had a ton of fun. We all also got a merit badge(fingerprinting)!
